Wendy J. Lawrence is a Toronto based Artist. Lawrence’s initial training was at Alma College where she was the recipient of The Art Award for three consecutive years. After graduating Lawrence took a different journey and put her art career aspirations on hold. She successfully completed accounting courses, followed by a creative career in fashion retail/wholesale and distribution. Lawrence’s next phase included marriage and three beautiful boys. As the boys got older Wendy slowly began to pick up the brush and paint once again, re-igniting her passion for the canvas.
Lawrence has always been drawn to the beauty in raw nature. Having spent her childhood summers in the Muskoka district of Ontario, it is evident this inspirational landscape has heavily influenced her serene and beautiful artwork.
Lawrence’s images explore the deeper reference within these natural and occasionally abstract frameworks.
While Wendy records the raw exploration of nature, she transforms her genre well beyond by compelling a deeper understanding of her meaning and reflections expressed in her work. Her unique creative ability to draw the viewer deeper and deeper into surface of her work separate her from other artists. Her work awakens ones senses to the powerful conveyance she brings out in the consuming richness and journey Lawrence’s work takes you on.
